DBAT Trumbull! A Note from Mike Buswell

Dear Trumbull Travel Family –
I hope you had a great summer.
A year ago, I wrote you news of a partnership with The Grind as the new home indoor facility for the Trumbull Travel Baseball program.  While The Grind provided our travel program an adequate place for our players and coaches, I realize that traveling to Orange was a challenge for most.  So, today I excitedly write that our Trumbull Travel baseball program will have a new home in Trumbull, located in Trumbull’s Corporate Park at 30 Nutmeg Drive with the opening of D-BAT Baseball and Softball facility.
Once officially opened later this fall, D-BAT will be the PREMIER baseball/softball training facility in the area.
D-BAT will occupy more than 20,000 square feet of space and the facility will feature 16 batting cages and state-of-the-art pitching machines. The facility will also incorporate a modern monitoring system, HitTrax, which will help batters analyze their swings.
The move to D-BAT is another positive step for our highly-successful travel baseball program.
Training at D-BAT will allow our teams to get more focused baseball-related activities and repetition, all while being just minutes from our homes.   In fact, our teams will be able increase the number of winter workouts/team practices (36 from 24) for the same cost ($400) as last year.
More importantly, our young players will get access to quality instruction, not only from their Trumbull Travel coaches, but from D-BAT’s professional instructors who will be available to assist and provide lessons as needed.
And finally, I plan to serve as D-BAT Trumbull’s General Manager in charge of day-to-day operations.
All in all, this is another significant milestone for our Trumbull Travel Baseball Program and our baseball players.    I look forward to sharing more news in the coming months.
What is D-BAT?
D-BAT is a baseball/softball training academy, headquartered in Addison, Texas, opened in the late 1990s and has trained a number of athletes who have gone on to play in the major leagues. It has nearly 60 locations nationwide and boasts more than 20 years of grooming athletes for the next level.  Franchises offer batting cages, lessons, camps and clinics, as well as a shop to purchase baseball and softball equipment and apparel along with membership packages that help reduce costs.  It will be the first Connecticut franchise for D-BAT.
When will the facility be open?
Later this fall, the D-BAT facility (located at 30 Nutmeg Drive) will open just in time for the start of Trumbull Travel Baseball’s winter workouts.
When and where are tryouts for the spring season?
In October at the NIA Ballfields.  More information on date and times will be communicated in the coming weeks.
How will winter workouts be structured?
Winter workouts will entail the smaller, team-only workouts like last winter, but with more flexible times that work around winter sports activities.  The number of winter workouts will increase to 36 (from 24), but at the same cost as last year ($400).   The $400 fee for these winter workouts will be included in the overall cost of playing Trumbull Travel.
